Honoring those who have made a difference in the health of the Columbia Slough

The Columbia Slough Watershed Council works to protect and enhance the Columbia Slough and its watershed through community engagement, education, and restoration. The Council achieves its mission through strong partnerships and collaborative action. Each year, since 2001, the most outstanding accomplishments of a person, group, project, or initiative as related to the Council’s mission are recognized with the Henrietta Award.

The 2024 winner will receive their award at the at the Annual Slough Celebration, which will take place on Saturday, May 18 from 2 - 6pm at Whitaker Ponds.

Who is eligible for an award?

Any person, group, organization whose leadership benefits the watershed, who partners with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council, or who implements a project within the watershed. Feel free to nominate yourself! Multiple nominations are welcome!

Eligibility Criteria

The nominee must have demonstrated at least one of the following:

  • The nominee’s actions or the project/activity has resulted in measurable improvement in one of these six CSWC action plan categories: restoration and enhancement; water quality and quantity; resource collection; outreach; education; monitoring; and recreation/accessibility/safety.

  • Nominee/Project made an outstanding contribution to the Slough Watershed’s ecological health which benefits people, fish, and/or wildlife in the Columbia Slough Watershed.

  • Nominee/Project demonstrated creativity, initiative, or persistence which resulted in a healthier environment and community in the Columbia Slough Watershed.  

  • Nominee/Project serves to motivate and inspire others to also do work that benefits fish and wildlife habitat, water quality,  open spaces/natural areas/parks/trails, or environmental justice.
